Gleneagles Johor contributes CBCT machine to HSNI

ISKANDAR PUTERI: Gleneagles Hospital Johor (GHJ) presented a cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) machine to the Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital (HSNI) in Batu Pahat here on Tuesday to empower the healthcare industry in Johor.

Gleneagles Hospital Johor chief executive officer Dr Kamal Amzan, who is also IHH Healthcare Malaysia regional and southern chief executive officer, said he was confident that the contribution of the machine could complement the needs of community health services in Batu Pahat.

He said the contribution of accurate and detailed diagnostic imaging equipment could also ensure better patient care and treatment results, as well as reduce patient waiting time.

"By contributing this tomography machine to Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital, we hope to reduce patient travel time and duration which is in line with our goal of reducing public health burden.

"This effort demonstrates GHJ's commitment to building strong relationships with public medical centres, in addition to fostering a collaborative approach to addressing healthcare challenges and increasing access to advanced medical services.

"Through this contribution, GHJ intends to demonstrate the effectiveness of cooperation in addressing healthcare needs as well as better accessibility for a quality healthcare industry in Johor and the rest of the country," he said
at a press conference in conjunction with the handover of the machine.

Also present was Batu Pahat district dental officer Dr Nor Fatimah Syahraz Abdul Razakek.

Dr Kamal said the contribution of the machine was also to support access to healthcare through the empowerment of public hospitals.

He was confident HSNI would make the most of the contribution and continue to benefit the public.

"We are confident that the initiative pioneered by GHJ will be a continuation among other private hospitals and medical centres in the country.

"We also call on other private hospitals to come together in an effort to help public hospitals access facilities that are far from reach.

"We are confident that any contribution to public hospitals underlines GHJ's belief in the importance of collaboration between the private and public healthcare sectors to ensure that the latest medical technology is accessible to the community.

"In fact, this initiative becomes a platform for various forms of cooperation in the future, including the sharing of medical knowledge and so on," he said.

Meanwhile, Dr Nor Fatimah said CBCT allowed images to be manipulated and processed using a computer to view teeth and jaws in various directions, thereby enabling doctors to find out problems related to teeth and determine appropriate dental treatment.

"The machine will become an additional facility at Batu Pahat's public medical institution and facilitate patients without having to be referred to distant hospitals.

"We are grateful for this contribution and appreciate GHJ's initiative," she added.
