Umno Youth condemns petrol bomb attempt on KK Mart, urges public to leave matter to cops

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Youth has condemned the attempted petrol bomb attack on a KK Mart convenience store in Bidor, Perak.

The convenience store chain was previously hit with calls for a boycott after images showing a pair of socks bearing the word 'Allah' on display at a KK Super Mart shop in Bandar Sunway.

In a Facebook post, Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Salleh urged all parties to leave the matter to the police and abide by the law.

"We respect the law which has its own due process, but at the same time, the KK Mart boycott campaign must continue to serve as a great lesson to those who intend to insult Islam in future.

"Despite receiving a death threat, my stance and the Muslims in Malaysia remain the same in #boikotkkmart campaign as a firm reminder to all against insulting Islam in this country," he said.

He also thanked the police and other authorities involved in investigating the socks issue that saw the perpetrators being charged in court.

Perak police chief Yusri Hassan Basri said an investigation on the petrol bomb incident was underway and the police were tracking down the suspect.

He said CCTV footage from the store revealed that a dark-coloured vehicle with a red logo had stopped near the premises at about 5.35am.
