Free toll for Raya on April 8 and 9 [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysians heading back to their hometowns to celebrate Hari Raya will get to enjoy toll free travel in private cars for two days starting April 8.

In a statement, the Works Ministry said the government, through a Cabinet meeting on Feb 7, had agreed to provide toll exemptions for two days exclusively to Class 1 vehicles (private vehicles) on April 8 and 9.

The toll exemption will be implemented on all highways starting from 12.01 am. on April 8 (Monday) and will end at 11.59pm on April 9(Tuesday), with an estimated compensation cost of RM37.6 million allocated by the government.

"Toll exemptions will be granted at all toll plazas except at border toll plazas, namely the Sultan Iskandar Building Toll Plaza (BSI) and the Tanjung Kupang Toll Plaza in Johor.

"This toll exemption by the government is a gesture of concern and a shared joy with the Malaysian people," said the statement.
