No additional holiday this Hari Raya Aidilfitri?

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today hinted that no additional holiday will be given this upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

"This April 12, we must have a working spirit," he said after attending the Iftar Madani organised by the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) at Dataran Putra.

Last year, the government announced an additional public holiday to mark Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

The move was to help people make travel plans.

Muslims in Malaysia are expected to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri on April 10.

Earlier, Anwar and his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail attended the break of fast with some 10,000 members of the public.

The event, held to mark Nuzul Quran, was organised in collaboration with Putrajaya Corporation.

After the break of fast, they joined the congregational Maghrib prayer.
