Muda wants Home Ministry to clarify claims Najib given special treatment in jail

KUALA LUMPUR: Muda has called on the Home Ministry to clarify claims that former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is being accorded special treatment in the Kajang Prison.

This comes after preacher Wan Ji Wan Hussin, a former inmate at the prison, claimed Najib received special treatment compared to other prisoners.

In an interview with Malaysiakini, Wan Ji alleged that Najib was not required to wear prison garbs.

"Are these claims true? If they are, is it because Najib comes from nobility and is a former prime minister?" Muda asked in a statement.

"We hope the Home Ministry can clarify these claims," said Muda.

Previously, the Prisons Department denied that Najib was being given special treatment at the Kajang Prison.

Najib's lawyer, Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah also rubbished such claims describing them as "bull****".

In 2022, Najib began serving a 12-year jail term after he was convicted in the SRC International case. He was also fined RM210 million.

Earlier this year, Najib, who has applied for a royal pardon, had his sentence halved.
