Sultan of Pahang disappointed, strongly condemns molotov cocktail attack on KK Mart

KUALA LUMPUR: Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has expressed his disappointment over the 'molotov cocktail' attack on KK Mart convenience store's Sungai Isap branch in Kuantan, Pahang early this morning.

Comptroller of the Istana Pahang, Major General Datuk Mohamed Zahari Yahya, in a statement today, said Al-Sultan Abdullah also strongly condemned the attack, which the Sultan of Pahang described as not only going against the law but also religious belief that always emphasize the importance of harmony and prosperity.

The Sultan of Pahang, said Mohamed Zahari, has also decreed for the police to provide serious attention and take immediate and strict actions in relation to the case.

"His Majesty also called on the people, especially the people in Pahang, to not be easily influenced by racial narratives that could disrupt the harmony enjoyed by all of us over the years.

"All parties must respect the sovereignty of the laws in the country and avoid committing actions which are deemed as crossing the line.

"His Majesty also reminded the people to respect due process of the laws by the government in connection with the case over the sales of the socks bearing the word 'Allah'," the statement said.

In conjunction with the holy month of Ramadan, Mohamed Zahari said Al-Sultan Abdullah also called on the people to pray for the blessings for Pahang as well as the country.

The Sungai Isap branch, which started its operation about two weeks ago, is the convenience store's second branch to be hit by the attack.

Kuantan district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu, said the 5.14am incident caused a small fire at the shop's front entrance.

About four days ago, the convenience store's Bidor branch in Perak was believed to be the target of a molotov cocktail attack.
