Search op area for missing mum and daughter expanded

SERDANG: The search operation area for a mother and her daughter, who are feared to have drowned since yesterday at Kota Perdana, near Seri Kembangan, has been expanded to six kilometres along Jalan KP 4/9, Kota Perdana, here today.

State Fire and Rescue Department director Wan Md Razali Wan Ismail said two tracking dogs have been despatched to track the whereabouts of Juliana, 38, and Riska Amelia, 4.

"Today, the rescue teams are divided into three groups. They will conduct searches within a radius of six kilometres.

"They are assisted by two tracking dogs (Lady and Cross) from the K9 unit," he said.

On Sunday, an Indonesian family of five was swept away by a water surge.

The father, Ahmad Suriadi, 40, said that his family had come to the area several times before to fish, selling their catch for additional income.

In the 5pm incident on Sunday, a sudden water surge in the monsoon drain caused Ahmad, his wife, and three children, aged between four and 10, to slip at the location and be swept into a river in Kota Perdana.

One of his three children, Mohd Alif, 9, was found safe by members of the public at 5.30pm.

About 7pm, the body of his other son, Mohd Diham, 10, was found about one kilometre away from the location and was sent to Serdang Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
