Yayasan Ikram and Chinese embassy bring Aidilfitri cheer to 100 families.

KUALA LUMPUR: Yayasan Ikram organised a donation handover ceremony for the Rayuan Ramadan programme today at the Batu Muda People's Housing Project (PPR).

Yayasan Ikram Malaysia chairman Board of Trustees Ainullotfi Abdul Latif said this programme is one of several collaborations with the Chinese embassy.

"Yayasan Ikram has managed the aid donated by the embassy to be delivered to those in need for five projects under the programme.

"These five projects consist of the distribution of Dates & Prison Iftar packs, Ramadan packs, Iftar & Sahur packs, and 'Kuih raya' & Spice packs.

"Previously, we also sent boxes of dates to prisons around Klang Valley, including the Kajang and Sungai Buloh prisons last Monday. The Chinese embassy is one of the major contributors to this project."

Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia Ouyang Yujing said the Chinese embassy is committed to helping those in need.

"Today, we brought food and other supplies to contribute to the Aidilfitri celebration. It also symbolises the friendship between the peoples of China and Malaysia."

He said the embassy had previously carried out various charity events in collaboration with the Islamic Religious Department and civil society groups to support people in need.

Muhd Khairulanuar Mohd Salleh said 100 recipients who included persons with disabilities, single mothers and asnaf families from the Batu Muda PPR were given with Ramadan Spice packs, today.

"These packs contain flour, instant 'ketupat', raya cookies, boxed santan and other cooking ingredients for Aidilfitri preparations."

Also present were Yayasan Ikram Malaysia chief executive officer Dr Zaharuddin Saidon, Yayasan Ikram Malaysia Board of Trustee Faridah Maludin, Pertubuhan Ikram Kawasan Batu representative Hassan Unir, and Batu Muda PPR Residents' Association chairman Redzuan Hanafi.

Yesterday, Yayasan Ikram distributed 60 baju Melayu and baju kurung to children living around Chow Kit accompanied by parents at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman.
