PM receives courtesy call from Indonesian president-elect Prabowo

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim received a courtesy call from Indonesian president-elect Prabowo Subianto at his office in Perdana Putra, today.

He said Prabowo's courtesy visit was part of the Indonesian Defence Minister's special one-day visit to Malaysia.

Anwar said they exchanged views on strengthening Malaysia-Indonesia ties.

"Our political journeys are similar, we faced various challenges before our respective appointments (as prime minister and president)."

Anwar said Prabowo also shared about his time as a student in Malaysia when he studied at Victoria Institution in KL

"I also extended congratulations and best wishes to Prabowo, who will be inaugurated as the eighth President of Indonesia.

"May the friendship between Malaysia and Indonesia continue to grow stronger," said Anwar in a Facebook post.

This is Prabowo's first visit to Malaysia after winning the Indonesian presidential election.

He is also scheduled to meet Defense Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin later today.
