KUCHING: Sarawak Governor Tan Sri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar has shown support for initiatives by the Sarawak Syariah Judiciary Department to bolster the jurisdiction and efficacy of the Syariah Court, the Sarawak Public Communications Unit reported.
Chief Syariah Judge Datu Awang Suhaili Ledi conveyed this following a comprehensive dialogue with the Governor, highlighting the legal strengthening of the Syariah Court system.
Datu Suhaili shared insights from the meeting, and highlighted the Governor's role in shaping the legal landscape for the Syariah Court through his recommendations on law amendments, judicial structure, and legislative processes. He noted the governor's keen interest and active involvement in judicial enhancements aimed at empowering Syariah law in Sarawak.
The engagement also served as a platform to update the Governor on recent advancements in the Syariah Court system, particularly in judge appointments, a process under the Governor's purview.
