KK MP invites Akmal to visit Sabah to cool his heart

KOTA KINABALU: Kota Kinabalu member of parliament Datuk Chan Foong Hin hopes the natural beauty of Sabah will calm the temperament of Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh.

Chan said he welcomed Akmal to visit Sabah.

"I hope the peaceful and calm sceneries in the Land Below the Wind can cool down his heart.

"Don't always be angry. If YB Akmal has time, drop by Kota Kinabalu to break fast at a restaurant that serves all races.

"We all live in harmony and peace under one roof," he said in a Facebook post.

Upon arriving at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport, Akmal was taken by police to a police station.

He was summoned over a report filed against him under the Sedition Act concerning a video of a lecture in Kelantan.

He was released two hours later, after giving his statement.

Chan, who is deputy plantation and commodities minister, said he believed police conducted the investigation according to procedure.

"To uphold the wisdom of the king's decree, it is best we refrain from exploiting or manipulating issues to incite people for our own interests."

Recently, activists from Sabah and Sarawak called for the states to ban Akmal from entering over his remarks on the KK Mart socks controversy, saying his words had created tension among the people.
