KLIA shooting: I've been advised not to make any statements, says suspect's wife

KUALA LUMPUR: The wife of the man wanted by the police for the shooting incident at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 in Sepang near here, said she has been advised not to make any statements on the case.

Farah Md Isa, in a Facebook posting under the name Farah Cie, instead asked everyone to refer to the official statements issued by the police on the developments of the incident:

"The suspect is being hunted down by the police. Please refer to the official statements by the

police.

"I have been advised by my lawyer to not make any statements on the case at the moment," she wrote.

Earlier today, a bodyguard was seriously injured after being shot at the arrival hall of the airport.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan in a statement said the incident occurred at 1.30am this morning at the arrival hall of the airport.

He said investigations showed that the suspect actually intended to shoot his wife, who was waiting there for the return of Umrah pilgrims.

The police, since then, have launched a manhunt for the suspect identified as Hafizul Harawi, 38.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Commissioner Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said police have launched operations to arrest the suspect.

He also warned the public not to approach the suspect or to take the law into their own hands.
