BAYAN LEPAS: A motorcyclist was seriously injured when he fell off a flyover at Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah here during the evening peak hours today.
At the time of the incident, the 27-year-old was said to be on his way back to Bayan Lepas from Bayan Baru.
Police were alerted to the 6.10pm accident involving a motorcyclist at the flyover of Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah near the Sungai Tiram mosque.
Sources said an investigation found that the accident was believed to have happened when the motorcyclist lost control of his machine while on the flyover.
"The motorcycle grazed the divider and the victim was thrown off the flyover.
"He sustained serious head injuries," the source said, adding that the victim was sent to the Penang Hospital for treatment.
Several photographs of the incident have since gone viral.
