Joseph Kurup's body arrives in Kota Kinabalu

KOTA KINABALU: The body of Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) founder, the late Tan Sri Joseph Kurup, has arrived in Kota Kinabalu at 11.20pm last night.

The flight carrying the late leader, initially scheduled for 9.15am this morning, was postponed due to the eruption of Gunung Ruang in Indonesia.

The late Joseph's body will be taken to Fook Lu Siew Coffin Supplies Sdn Bhd for arrangements and a final tribute session is set to be held in the afternoon.

It is understood that the tribute ceremony for distinguished guests and the public is scheduled to commence from 2pm to 8pm.

It was reported that the former Sabah deputy chief minister passed away at the National Heart Institute (IJN), Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

The late leader, who also served as a minister in the Prime Minister's Department, retired from politics in January last year after holding the position of PBRS president since the party's inception.
