BUTTERWORTH: Police are tracking down individuals or eyewitnesses with information to a fatal crash involving two vehicles at the Bagan Lalang traffic lights intersection here on Wednesday.

Acting Seberang Prai Utara district police chief Superintendent Izwan Abd Karim said those with information can contact investigating officer Inspector Mohd Rizal Mohd Saberi at 018-4022120 or 04-5741421 or the nearest police station.

He said initial investigation at the scene showed that the crash happened when a 66-year-old motorcyclist, who was heading toward Bagan Lalang from Bagan Ajam, had passed the traffic lights.

At the same time, a Perodua Axia driven by a 29-year-old man approached.

"The car, from Sungai Dua to Raja Uda, on a straight road, had collided with the motorcyclist.

"The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and he was rushed to the Seberang Jaya Hospital for treatment. He died while receiving treatment," he said today.

Izwan said the post-mortem examination report found that the motorcyclist died due to severe injuries sustained due to road accident.

"We will investigate the case from all angles," he added.

The case is being probed under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act1987.
