KUALA LUMPUR: eSports player Nik "Dominus" Muhyyiddin has been banned for a year for attempted match-fixing.

He has been suspended by the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Malaysia.

Muhyyiddin was also alleged to have attemped to provide financial incentives to Bountee Esports players to intentionally lose a match in the ongoing MPL MY Season 13.

The MPL Malaysia committee, in a statement today, said their investigation into the allegations involving Bountee Esports and their members found serious violations of integrity and professionalism.

However, Bountee Esports have been cleared of any infractions, and the team have committed to strengthening their operations and management in cooperation with the league.

"As the nation's longest-running eSports league, MPL Malaysia upholds the highest standards of professionalism and conduct.

"This includes adopting a zero-tolerance approach towards match-fixing, as per the league's Rule Book – 'No Team Member may offer, agree, conspire, or attempt to influence the outcome of a Game or Match by any means that are prohibited by law or these Rules' (12.2.14)," read the statement.

"Our position is supported by the National eSports Development Guideline (NESDEG), introduced by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in 2023; Chapter 3 prohibits all forms of fraud, manipulation, and corruption in eSports activities.

"Moving forward, the league will redouble our efforts on team engagements to ensure that the players are thoroughly cared for and increase education on good practices and values for teams to foster safe, healthy and respectful sporting environments for their members. The well-being of every participant in MPL Malaysia matters.

"It is crucial for us to step up efforts for the national eSports landscape this year, with Malaysia set to welcome the top Mobile Legends: Bang Bang teams as the host of the M6 World Championship."
