CIA World Factbook features nasi lemak

KUALA LUMPUR: Nasi lemak has been featured on the United States Central Intelligence Agency's (CIA) World Factbook page on Facebook.

The post said: "Nasi lemak is considered the national dish of Malaysia and is a popular Malay breakfast food."

It said nasi lemak means "fat rice" in Malay because the way it is prepared makes the dish rich and creamy.

"It consists of fragrant rice cooked in coconut milk with pandan leaves, lemon grass, ginger and other spices.

"Nasi lemak is usually served with a hard-boiled egg, fried anchovies, sambal paste and roasted peanuts."

The CIA's World Factbook is a public resource providing basic intelligence on 266 world entities, including travel facts and country profiles.
