New committee chaired by Hassan Merican to advise PM on development

KUALA LUMPUR: The government has established the Policy Advisory Committee to the Prime Minister (PMAC) to provide advice on national development and economic resilience.

The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said former Petronas president and chief executive officer Tan Sri Mohd Hassan Marican would chair the committee.

"The establishment of this committee follows the expiration of the Advisory Committee to the Minister of Finance (Acfin) in February 2024, which Tan Sri Mohd Hassan Marican also chaired.

"Suggestions put forth by Acfin have been duly considered, and some of them are in the implementation process."

The PMO said this appointed committee would not receive any payment from the government.

Other members of the body include FVSB executive chairman Datuk Ahmad Fuad Md Ali, Sunway University Economics Professor Dr Yeah Kim Leng and economist Dr Nungsari Ahmad Radhi.
