Lumut helicopter crash: Joanna seemed to have anticipated fate, says husband

SERIAN: Chief Petty Officer Joanna Felicia Rohna, one of the 10 Royal Malaysian Navy personnel who perished in a helicopter crash in Lumut last Tuesday, seemed to have foreseen her fate.

Her husband, Petty Officer Haslie Ali, 33, said that a week before the incident, his wife left instructions to take care of their young children in case she was no longer around.

According to Haslie, at the time, he thought it was just a casual remark or a joke.

"When the tragedy occurred, I immediately remembered her words and never expected that her instructions would become a reality.

"I will hold onto her instructions and ensure the needs of our two young children as they grow are met ," he said after receiving a visit from Minister of Women, Family, and Community Development, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri in Kampung Engkaroh, Tebakang, here, today.

The late Joanna Felicia, 26, left behind two children, Allesia Felice Haslie, 4, and Hovannes Haslie, 1.

Haslie said that for now, he has not decided whether to take his children back to the Lumut Navy Base, where he works, or leave them under the care of his family here.

"Previously, our children were cared for by a caregiver at the TLDM Lumut quarters while my wife and I were on duty.

"After this, I still don't know whether to take them back there or not," he said.
