KKB by-election: Zahid calls for all parties to stop circulating old videos, open new chapter

PUTRAJAYA: Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has called for all parties to cease recirculating old videos condemning other parties.

This was following a resurfaced video of a politician criticising Barisan Nasional during the 15th general election (GE15) campaign.

The politician in question is the Pakatan Harapan candidate for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election Pang Sock Tao.

"There is a video of an Islamic party leader asking to support DAP. That can also be played.

"But the reality is that the situation has changed as well as the political scenario.

"So, I think we should close old chapters, and open a new one," he said during the Santunan Kasih Syawal programme, here.

Previously, DAP publicity secretary Teo Nie Ching said the video of the Kuala Kubu Baharu candidate was from November 2022, taken during a GE15 campaign in Kulai, Johor.

"It's an old video from 2022. The speech was made in Kulai when she was campaigning for Pakatan Harapan's candidate for the Kulai (parliamentary seat)," she told reporters in a media WhatsApp group.

Meanwhile, Zahid dismissed former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's prediction that DAP would win the by-election as mere opinion.

"That is his (Mahathir's) opinion. It would be better for him to focus on religious matters," he said.

The media reported that Mahathir had predicted that DAP would win the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election due to the division among Malay voters.
