Kuala Kubu Baharu: Pang Sock Tao silences Pas leaders with academic qualification reveal

KUALA LUMPUR: DAP candidate for the Kuala Kubu Baharu state seat by-election Pang Sock Tao today put the dispute raised by a Pas leader regarding her education background and academic qualification to rest.

In response to the challenge posed by Pas information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, Pang took to her Facebook account to share her Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) and Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination result slips.

The result slip showed she scored four A+, three As and three A- in her SPM examination in 2010 when she was a student of SM Chung Hua Port Dickson in Negri Sembilan.

The former press secretary to Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming scored straight As in her UPSR examination in 2005.

"To Pasir Mas (member of Parliament) Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, who asked about my UPSR and SPM examination results... here is my answer.

"I am indebted to all the teachers who have taught me (during her primary and secondary school days). I would like to thank them for all their contribution to my education.

"I would also like to express my gratitude to my parents, who have never neglected education for their children," she said in a social media post today.

Fadhli, in a post on his Facebook yesterday, challenged Pang to reveal her primary and secondary education status.

"Where did you sit for your UPSR and SPM examination? I am sure this is interesting to know," said Fadhli.

The Pas leader raised such a question after critics disputed the academic qualifications of Perikatan Nasional (PN)candidate for the by-election Khairul Azhari Saut.

Khairul Azhari, however, maintained that his university qualifications were genuine.

The Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election, which has been fixed for polling on May 11, will see a four-cornered battle involving Pakatan Harapan, PN, Parti Rakyat Malaysia and an independent candidate.
