KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on Arab and Muslim countries to ensure that Israel is brought to justice for all the crimes and atrocities that have been committed against Palestine.

In a meeting with Saudi Arabian Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud in Riyadh yesterday, the prime minister expressed his view that all Arab and Muslim countries, especially Saudi Arabia, needed to be consistent and firm in demanding justice for the Palestinian people.

Anwar concluded his trip to Riyadh to attend the Special Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) with the visit yesterday before returning to Malaysia.

"I expressed my appreciation for the leadership exhibited by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in relation to the affairs of Muslims, including in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

"I expressed the view that all Arab countries and Muslim countries, especially Saudi Arabia, need to be consistent and firm in demanding justice for the Palestinian people by ensuring that Israel is brought to justice for all the crimes and atrocities that have been committed against Palestine for decades.

"In addition to continuing to fight for the right to protection and access to humanitarian aid, all parties also need to voice objections to Israel's illegal invasion and occupation of Palestinian land, which is the main cause of this prolonged conflict," he said in a post on X.

The prime minister said the discussion between the two leaders also touched on trade and investment relations between the two countries, and he also spoke of  Malaysia's readiness to join Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 by exploring new areas of cooperation, especially in the field of renewable energy and hydrogen.

Anwar welcomed Saudi investors to explore potential investment in high value projects such as digital and green economy, artificial intelligence (AI), clean energy, defence, electricity and electronics and aerospace.

The prime minister also expressed his appreciation to the Saudi government for the allocation of 31,600 haj quotas for Malaysia this year.

Anwar also informed the crown prince that Malaysia was ready to chair Asean next year, including hosting the Asean-GCC-China Summit.

"I believe this visit has further strengthened the close relationship between Malaysia and Saudi Arabia, in addition to opening up various potential investments that will contribute to the prosperity of Malaysians as a whole, God willing." he added.
