Man attacked by crocodile while fishing

SRI AMAN: A man is believed to have been attacked by a crocodile while fishing on the banks of the Semeruang Bangkong River in Pantu, near here, yesterday evening (May 12).

A spokesperson for the Sarawak state fire and rescue operations centre said in a statement today that the victim, identified as Lawrence Adi Raynold, 32, along with three other friends, were fishing on the banks of the river.

The Sri Aman fire and rescue station received a call from the Sri Aman district police headquarters about the incident at 7.30pm.

The incident, which took place around 5pm, was located about 40 minutes from the victim's longhouse.

"Search and rescue efforts for the victim will commence at 8am today," the statement read.
