KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has invited the new Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong to visit Malaysia.
In a post on X, Anwar said they are ready to work closely for the interest of both countries.
"Congratulatulations to Lawrence Wong on his appointment as the new Singapore Prime Minister.
"I conveyed this through a telephone call to him today while extending my invitation to him to visit Malaysia at the soonest," he said.
Wong was sworn in as Singapore's fourth prime minister on Wednesday night. Anwar said that Wong also talked about the unity government's victory in a recent by-election.
"He (Wong) also conveyed his congratulations (to the unity government) on the recent by-election victory in Kuala Kubu Bharu.
"We agree to commit and cooperate closely, as well as continue discussions on matters of mutual interest," said Anwar.
