KUALA LUMPUR: City Hall removed fruit vendors for peddling by the roadside and causing obstructions in the Bukit Jalil area here today.

A team comprising those from the Kuala Lumpur City Hall's Seputeh branch office and its enforcement department also seized equipment used by the peddlers around Jalan Jalil Perkasa 1.

It said the three seizure and removal operations were carried out under Section 46(1)(a) of the Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974.

"Among the items seized were plastic tables and chairs, trolleys, digital weighing scales, freezers, tents, sinks, and various other equipment.

"The seized items and equipment were sent to the DBKL Seizure Storage at Jalan Lombong, Taman Miharja Cheras, for documentation and further action," DBKL said in a statement posted on Facebook.

It added that continuous actions and monitoring would be carried out through a series of special operations in the 11 parliamentary constituencies in Kuala Lumpur.
