DPM makes surprise visit to CIQ in Johor Baru [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof sprang a surprise when he made an unannounced visit to the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complex at the Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) in Johor Baru early this morning.

During his visit at 4.15am, he inspected the concourse area and the Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) station before going to the pedestrian walkway to enter Singapore.

"I then went to the passport autogate section, immigration, customs scanning system, the MBike counters system and the buses.

"I also met with public transportation users in BSI, officers on duty, and saw the bus route myself and took pictures using a mobile phone.

"I want to thank all relevant authorities who helped facilitate my surprise visit this morning," he shared on his Facebook page today.

Fadillah, who is also Energy Transition and Public Utilities Minister said this visit would be used as a guide in the special committee meeting to address congestion at the Johor Causeway, of which he chairs.

"Thank you as well to immigration and the police officers who helped and explained the tourist entry travel process after realising my presence at the CIQ," he said.
