Immigration to start MyTrip QR code checks via MySejahtera from June 1 [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Immigration Department will commence immigration checks using the MyTrip QR code via the MySejahtera app starting June 1, 2024.

This implementation will undergo a three-month trial period through a Proof of Concept (PoC).

The MyTrip registration has also been opened.

For the initial phase of implementation, this facility is open to Malaysian citizens using the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex (KSAB) CIQ entry point via bus and motorcycle lanes.

Meanwhile, in the second phase, the system will be extended to private vehicle users, followed by Singaporeans and other nationalities.

This facility will be gradually expanded to other entry points and modes of transportation. This digital immigration check will ensure fast and smooth clearance at the country's entry points.

Previously, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the introduction of the QR codes at the Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) and KSAB will be a "game changer" in addressing congestion at both Malaysia-Singapore entry points.

He also said that with the implementation of the QR codes, motorcyclists at BSI will be able to cut down their waiting time from 40 minutes to 30 minutes.
