#NSTviral: Man shares encounter with a Bangladeshi who had over RM300,000 in his account

KUALA LUMPUR: A social media user recently shared his encounter with a Bangladeshi, who has more than RM300,000 in his account.

In a post on X platform, user @justalhafiz, said a Bangladeshi asked for his help to withdraw money from an automated-teller machine (ATM) at a convenience store chain.

"I asked how much he wanted to withdraw. His reply was RM6,000. Saw the balance in the account, more than RM300,000, if I'm not mistaken.

"Suddenly, I feel like 'merempat' in my own country," he wrote in a post that was posted 20 hours ago.

He then said that it was the Bangladeshi that asked him to check on the balance of the account.

Replies to the post saw some of the users questioning the amount of money that was available in the account.

User @Knny_Z wrote; "Thousands of ringgit in the account, yet don't know how to withdraw the money? What's the story?"

Another user @xobaxi_jxrrx wrote; "Serious-lah, more than RM300k in the account? Ayoo."

However, many users commented that it was their (the Bangladeshis) that allowed them to have such an amount in their account.

User @1sthisAlice wrote; "Their survival instinct is strong. They didn't go for healing, staycation, or spending money on expensive things. Their meal is just a simple one. If we can be like them, we also can be rich."

Another user @Newlife2809253 wrote; "These foreign workers, usually their accommodation was provided by their employers. They cooked their meals and did not eat out."

Some of the users, however, have called for caution when helping people withdrawing money from the ATM machine.

User @notssokyuteu said: "Do not help other people to withdraw their money. It is dangerous. Maybe, some of them are genuine (asking for help to withdraw the money), but this is also a modus operandi of some syndicates. If you're unlucky, you can become the scapegoat or the main suspect."
