Pas Muslimat says Syura Council will decide ties with PKR

ALOR STAR: The Pas Muslimat wing is leaving it to the party's Syura council to deliberate on the motion to cut ties with PKR.

Its deputy chief Dr Rosni Adam confirmed that the wing has received the motion submitted by its divisions but has decided to refrain from debating it due to the sensitivity surrounding the issue.

Instead, she said the Dewan Muslimat meeting tomorrow would focus on preparing the party for the 14th General Election (GE14).

“We are not worried because all this while, Muslimat has been doing all the works to ensure (the then) Pakatan Rakyat victory, even at the seats contested by DAP and PKR.

“Our machinery is much bigger and stronger than the other Pakatan allies and we are rearing to face the general election even if we facing the battle alone,” she said when contacted.

She added that the one-day Muslimat meeting tomorrow would also discuss several people-related issues including high cost of living.

On the uncontested win for the top Muslimat posts, Rosni said it reflected the members' wish for the committee to continue with its duty to face the polls.

Rosni said the Muslimat delegates would also be debating on the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965 or RUU355.

She said the delegates needed to understand the proposed amendment so that they could explain it to the people on the ground.
