Wan Azizah to wait for Pas' official decision on Pas-PKR cooperation

SHAH ALAM: PKR will wait for an official decision from Pas on the fate of their political cooperation.

PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said their ties might be affected if Pas’ Consultative Council, the party’s highest decision-making body, endorses a proposal by its Ulama wing to cut ties.

“We will see, but they (Pas) have said it is up to the council. We will wait for the council to decide,” she told reporters Friday.

She was responding to reports that delegates at the Ulama wing at Pas’ muktamar (general assembly) had moved a motion to severe ties with PKR.

Dr Wan Azizah said she did not face any problem now in working with Pas assemblyman in the Kajang constituency.

In Kuantan, Pahang DAP chairman Leong Ngah Ngah said it was impossible for DAP to agree with the condition set by Pas which had insisted it should lead the Opposition.

He said this was on grounds that the broken relationship between DAP and Pas was irreparable.

He added it would be absurd for DAP and Pas to agree on the seat distribution for the next general election.

“It is an uphill task to mend the strained relationship and I cannot foresee any cooperation between us.

“DAP is against Pas’ Private Member’s Bill, so how are we going to work together?” he said.

During the Pas Muslimat delegates’ meeting in Kedah on Thursday, Pas spiritual leader Hashim Jasin had reportedly stated that the party would only cooperate with DAP and Parti Amanah Negara if they allowed Pas to lead their pact.

Meanwhile, Pahang PKR Youth information chief Lee Chean Chung said PKR would accept any decision made by the Pas consultative council.

The council is the highest body in Pas to evaluate the resolutions passed at the muktamar so let them decide,” he said.
