BN members out by the hundreds to support Umno Permatang Pauh ceramah

SEBERANG JAYA: Hundreds of Barisan Nasional members and supporters came together for a Ceramah Rakyat organised by Umno Permatang Pauh tonight.

This, despite Seberang Jaya state seat and Permatang Pauh parliamentary seat being the stronghold of PKR, affirmed BN’s popularity.

Even after all the seats were snapped up in the basketball court at Jalan Tenggiri here, the crowd did not seem to mind standing.

The speakers from various parties under BN fired up the crowd as they spoke against Pakatan Harapan, in particular, DAP.

The crowd booed each time DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang and his son, Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, were mentioned.

The crowd also jeered when state BN chairman Teng Chang Yeow revealed that there were plans to sabotage tonight’s event after a social media posting showed the banner put up by Umno Permatang Pauh also included a Pas logo.

A police report has been lodged over the matter.

The crowd listened attentively when Teng further revealed the shortcomings of the DAP-led state government, including its failure to fulfil the numerous promises made since coming into power in 2008.

“I urged the crowd here to give your BN the chance to prove we are able to serve the people in the 14th general election,” he said.

Besides Teng, the other speakers included state MCA chairman Datuk Tan Teik Cheng, myPPP Wanita chief Helen Mening, state Umno secretary Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzir.

Musa told to crowd to let Parmatang Pauh be the start of Pakatan Harapan’s downfall in the coming election.

“Let us end this Pakatan ‘Kong Kali Kong’ once and for all,” he said to thunderous applause.

The highlight of the event would be the speech by BN strategic communications director and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan.
