Three Pas Exco members thank Sultan of Selangor for retaining their positions in state govt

SHAH ALAM: Three state executive councilors from PAS thanked the Sultan of Selangor for his consent to retain them in the state government until the 14th General Election (GE14).

The three PAS Exco members - Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad, Datuk Dr Ahmad Yunus and Zaidy Abdul Talib - would remain in the Selangor state government although PAS had ended their political ties with PKR.

Iskandar holds the Housing, Building and Urban Living Management portfolio, Dr Ahmad (Education, Human Capital Development, Science, Technology and Innovation) and Zaidy (Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Agriculture Modernisation and Agro-based Industry).

In a joint statement, the trio said they would continue to support Selangor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali to ensure programmes initiated are successful.

"We believe all negative speculation will end after the Sultan's consent," they said.

It was reported that in a statement issued by the Sultan''s private secretary Datuk Munir Bani on Thursday, the Sultan of Selangor had said that the position of the three PAS exco members should remain for the betterment of the people and in efforts to develop the state.

The Selangor state government comprises equal number of executive councilors from the ruling three-party coalition, that is, three each from PKR, DAP and PAS.

The PAS Ulama Syura Council had on May 11 decided that the party terminate its tahaluf siyasi or political cooperation with PKR after the party's 63rd Muktamar (General Assembly) held in Alor Star, Kedah last month, passed a resolution to end the cooperation as PKR was viewed as not respecting PAS as its ally in the pact. – Bernama
