Proposal for Anwar to become Pakatan adviser still being discussed: Azmin

SHAH ALAM: The proposal to appoint Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as Pakatan Harapan adviser is just that – a proposal, said PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali.

Azmin said the leadership structure of the opposition pact is still being discussed by all parties at the moment.

"(To have Anwar as Pakatan Harapan adviser is part of) the discussions. No decision has been made yet.

“I was made to understand that the leadership structure line up is still being deliberated on at the secretariat level. In the next meeting, the best structure for Pakatan Harapan will be made.

"What is more important now is how Pakatan Harapan can attract the attention of the people and generate a new wave of support in the next general election," he said today.

Azmin said this when met after the "Rapat Ramadhan Penjawat Awam Bersama YAB Dato' Menteri Besar Selangor" event at the Dewan Jubli Perak auditorium here.

Azmin, who is also Selangor Menteri Besar, had earlier announced 2 months’ worth of special financial assistance for over 17,000 civil servants in Selangor.

It was reported that Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) had proposed Anwar as the opposition pact’s adviser, while Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Tan Seri Muhyiddin Yassin were nominated as chairman and president respectively.

PPBM also proposed PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah as the deputy chairman and Azmin as deputy president.
