Don't listen to slander by outsiders: Zahid tells Bagan Datuk folks

BAGAN DATUK: Voters have had enough of lies by the opposition, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

"(Previously) outsiders came and disturbed us but we don't want this to happen again.

"I heard they (opposition) want to come here. But enough with their lies in the previous general elections.

"I don't want to talk about national level (politics).

"Let Bagan Datuk people decide the future of the constituency and we don't want outsiders to interfere with the politics here. Don't listen to slanders by outsiders," he said in his speech at the Teachers Day celebration at SJK (C) Sin Ming in Sungai Tiang today.

Zahid urged his constituents to unite in the name of development of Bagan Datuk.

"People (opposition leaders) from Teluk Intan, Taiping even Penang and Kuala Lumpur came to interfere with politics here and we have even seen political tsunami twice in the previous elections.

"So this time around, we will show them that we will not listen to slander and their lies.

"Forget about the political parties. Whenever I return (to Bagan Datuk), I don't come back as the deputy prime minister or Home Minister and MP, but I come back as a Bagan Datuk son.

"We are also grateful to the prime minister (Datuk Seri Najib Razak) for various allocations for developments including those announced after the declaration of Bagan Datuk as a new district in Perak."

During the event, he also announced additional RM200,000 funds for SJK(C), SJK(T) and national schools in the constituency, in addition to the annual allocation of RM500,000 for tuition for school children here.

He also pledged to look for funds for repair works needed at Chinese vernacular schools here.

Also present were state excos Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon and Datuk Shahrul Zaman Yahya.
