MCA tells Chinese community to reevaluate political promises, posturing of all parties

KUALA LUMPUR: MCA has hit out at DAP, describing latter as an opportunistic party that does not care about the political fate of the Chinese community in the country.

MCA Religious Harmony Bureau chairman Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker said, although DAP had been vocal on many topics, when it comes to the well-being of the Chinese in the country, the party had always “passed the buck to MCA”.

Thus, the former Teruntum assemblyperson said, it shows that DAP is merely a party that hinges on others – whether Pas, Parti Amanah Negara or Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia – as long as it could pick up enough votes to trounce MCA in a “devil-may-care manner”.

“It is time for the Chinese to take a step backward and assess the political promises and posturing of all parties. They have listened to DAP in 1969, 2008 and 2013.

“Have they benefitted or improved their political prospects and representations or are they being further sidelined or reduced to mere political pawns in a game of thrones?” he asked in a statement today.

Ti added that unlike Barisan Nasional (BN) which practices the spirit of multiracial, he claimed that DAP had only used its allies to its own advantage.

This he said can be seen through DAP’s relationships with Pas in the now-defunct Pakatan Rakyat, and recently with former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

“They (DAP) didn’t care whether Pas was going to implement Hudud or not when Pas said that their cooperation was on a temporary basis under the tahaluf siyasi (political cooperation) principle.

“They don't care whether Tun Dr Mahathir is going to walk the ultra-Malay path again if he ever tasted victory.

“They don’t care about the fate of the multiracial path that MCA is trying to uphold. We (MCA) may be a race-based party but we are upholding the multiracial spirit in BN.” he added.
