DPM Zahid not the first to reveal Mahathir's Indian lineage

PETALING JAYA: A statement about Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s Indian ancestry by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamid was nothing new.

Blogger Lim Lian See said Pakatan Harapan leaders have been talking about it for years and that it was strange for them to be unhappy about it as some had express Zahid “breached rules”.

"Strangely, these self-righteous but blinkered people do not seem to mind when various Pakatan people had insulted Mahathir on this for more than a decade," Lim said in his Facebook post where he also uploaded a compilation of video clips on leaders talking about Mahathir’s lineage.

They include jailed opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Dap adviser Lim Kit Siang and PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli.

Lim said Mahathir’s identity card and birth certificate have long been shared on the internet, including opposition run websites.

Zahid had on Sunday revealed that he was shown a copy of an identity card by the National Registration Department director-general that the former prime minister’s name was written as “Mahathir a/l Iskandar Kutty”.

He showed this during his speech in closing the Kelana Jaya Umno division meeting.
