"I will not jump party" - Senggarang assemblyman

KUALA LUMPUR: A Johor state assemblyman from Barisan Nasional has rubbished speculations on his purported plans to join splinter party Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM).

Describing such allegations as nonsense, Senggarang assemblyman Abdul Aziz Ismail said his loyalty towards Umno and BN should not be questioned.

“Definitely not (quitting Umno). My loyalty to Umno and BN should not be questioned.

“The allegation is nonsense. I am proud to be a BN state assemblyman. Full stop,” Abdul Aziz said as reported by Malaysiakini.

Rumours on the issue started to fly after Batu Pahat PPBM chief Mohd Zaid Mohd Yusof claimed he had met a Johor state assemblyman “showing interest on jumping party” following a supposed pressure from colleagues attempting to wrest his “position.”

Aziz had reportedly declined to answer to questions on whether such a meeting had taken place.
