MELAKA: Umno is a political party which has a clear direction and vision capable of bringing progress, development and betterment to the people and country.
Party president Datuk Seri Najib Razak said other parties whose directions were unclear could never challenge Umno's long arduous struggle which has brought many changes to the country.
"A political philosopher Alexis de Tocqueville once said that all political parties must have a clear direction and Umno can sustain because its fighting spirit is clear.
"It's fighting spirit is ever present compared to the flower party (Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysian) whose struggles and direction is not clear," Najib said when opening the Umno Bukit Katil division meeting.
The prime minister said the "flower" party was set up just to embark on a personal vendetta, adding that the kind of struggle would not last long.
Najib also condemned a past leader who benefitted by becoming prime minister but now is on a course to destroy the party.
"This is not rational and we cannot support such leaders because we know that only a political institution like Umno can we bring hope to the people.
"Imagine the country and the Malays without Umno and our race will be beleaguered.
Najib reiterated that all members must continue to instill within themselves the Umno fighting spirit, consolidation of party leadership and absolute loyalty to the party leader.
"We must be a one united front and have the fighting spirit for a cause bigger than ourselves as well as see our people become advanced and renowned in the eyes of the world." said Najib.
Najib said all party members must possess the fighting spirit regardless of season, time or whether they get rewarded for their efforts.
Najib said the country has grown tremendously with world class facilities such as the mass rapid transit (MRT) and the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.
"Other people cannot belittle us disseminating scare stories such as Malaysia is bankrupt to erode our confidence.
Check first whether it is true that our country is bankrupt and in the end it is not true. UMNO is a strong political party with a good future, strong and stable able to lead the country to a higher level.
