Supporters wait outside hospital for Warisan veep Peter Anthony's release

KOTA KINABALU: About 100 Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) supporters gathered near a private hospital in Damai here to see if their leader Datuk Peter Anthony will be released by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission today or tomorrow.

Peter, who was still under remand, was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday night for a medical examination.

Warisan secretary-general Loretto Padua Jr said the party vice president was suffering from dehydration and also complaint of pain in his head.

"However, I am not at liberty to elaborate on his medical condition. That is the doctor's area," he told reporters when met today.

Loretto said one of their lawyers were also at the court to determine if Peter will be released later today or tomorrow.

"If we look at the date (of remand extension) from 10th, but we are not sure if it is based on hours, so Martin Tommy (lawyer) is at court to rectify this.

"We will accept any decision by MACC.

"Peter is currently receiving treatment and is stable... whether he will continue to get treated

after the remand order ends will be up to the hospital," he explained further.

Earlier, Loretto extended Peter's gratitude to the supporters, some who came since last night and some from as far as Tenom district.

He advised them to remain calm and wait for the latest update.

On the police presence, he said the supporters should not worry as they were only here to ensure peace and security.

Loretto said the MACC officers handling Peter at the hospital have also been courteous.

About 500 packed meals have been prepared by the party for the supporters who were waiting there.
