KUALA LUMPUR: Umno is an inclusive party and is always serious in its efforts to find new touches to steer the interests of the Malays and lead Malaysia towards greater heights.
Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said since the country’s independence 60 years ago, the party had brought various policies that were relevant to the world’s increasingly challenging landscape.
He said Umno had the views of all parties, including non-Umno members in solving issues besides receiving policy recommendations that were more creative and innovative for mutual benefits.
“We don’t have to be apologetic in the way we lead the country despite our successes being belittled all this while by other quarters, “ he said when closing the Ummah Agenda Empowerment Convention 3.0 here today.
The convention was held as a preparation and guidance by representatives who will debate on motions at the forthcoming Umno General Assembly,
Hishammuddin, who is also Defence Minister, said Umno members should be confident with the capabilities of the party leadership and not be influenced by the opposition.
Hence, he said Umno machinery needed to imbue the winning mentality, especially in the Umno General Assembly next month in facing the 14th General Elections, thus ensuring the continuity of the party.
The party machinery should also work hard to convey the success being attained by the government besides helping to solve the people’s problems in their respective areas, he added. — BERNAMA
