GEORGE TOWN: Sixty per cent of Gerakan’s candidates in the coming general election will comprise fresh faces.
Gerakan vice-president Datuk Dr Dominic Lau said the party has spent the last two years preparing for the general election, and pledged that a slew of new faces will be contesting the parliamentary and state seats.
“A total of 60 per cent of the candidates will be fresh faces. We have also identified respective coordinators in order to determine suitable candidates for the election.
“However, given our limited resources, we will give priority to winnable seats. Gerakan will contest in 12 parliamentary seats and 33 state seats,” he told a press conference today.
Lau also did not disclose if the party has finalised its candidates list. He however, stressed that Gerakan must stay united in order to wrest Penang from Pakatan Harapan in the coming election.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had recently hinted that the 14th General Election will take place within the next 180 days.
