Penang Umno to spill more dirt on Penang government

GEORGE TOWN: Penang Umno will "spill the dirt" on the DAP-led state government's weaknesses in the upcoming Umno general assembly as a lesson to other states.

State Umno chief Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Osman said delegates from the state would raise the problems faced by the Penang people since DAP came to power in 2008.

He said these included the perennial floods and landslides as a result of uncontrolled development, especially on hillslopes, and land clearing activities near water catchment areas.

"We want to show that a change in government may not necessarily be good for the people. In fact, it may even spell trouble.

"As such, we hope that the Penang delegates will speak their mind to serve as a lesson to other states," he said after opening the Industry 4.0 week at the Penang Skills Development Centre here today.

This year's Umno general assembly is scheduled for Dec 5-9.

Zainal said Penang Umno would send three debaters to speak on policy speech by party president as well as on economy and religion.

Permatang Pauh Umno divisional chief Datuk Mohd Zaidi Mohd Said has been selected to debate on presidential address, state Umno youth chief Rafizal Abdul Rahim and Tasek Gelugor Umno divisional youth chief Nashrol Hisham Abdullah will debate on economy and religion, respectively.

Zainal said: "We hope the delegates will ignite the fire and spirit among party members in their preparations before the next general election.
