KUALA LUMPUR: Private sector employers should reduce their dependency on unskilled workers who get paid lower wages and instead, replace them with local workers with higher salaries.
This move, said Wanita Umno chief Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, will help spur the people’s economy so that it is in tandem with the country’ development.
In her winding up speech at the Umno General Assembly today, she said Wanita has also helped in efforts to address the cost of living. Its 20,730 Wanita Umno branches nationwide have been mobilised to work in the Friends of KPDNKK (Domestic Trade, Cooperatives & Consumerism Ministry) programme.
She said these Wanita branches go down to the ground to monitor the prices of goods.
