Reform far bigger than naming PM candidate, Dr Syed Husin tells Pakatan Harapan

KUALA LUMPUR: Former PKR vice-president Dr Syed Husin Ali had advised Pakatan Harapan to stop harping on the issue of naming the prime minister candidate.

In a statement, he said the pact should not be hasty in deciding the matter but instead focus on the main goal of the party’s coalition.

“Why do we need to rush on deciding the candidate?

“We need to remember that the main goal in forming Pakatan Harapan is to be united in bringing justice for the people and for a developed nation.

“To achieve this, there should be a change or a reform in the system. This is far bigger than deciding the prime minister candidate,” he said in a statement today.

He said adequate time should be given to listen to the "voice of the people" until the announcement of Parliament’s dissolution is made.

Yesterday, the pact’s chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said Pakatan Harapan would announce its prime minister candidate at its convention this weekend.

He said, the pact would also announce the seat allocation among the four parties during the convention.
