MCA-Gerakan collaboration wins heart of the young

KUALA LUMPUR: MCA-Gerakan's move to join forces to face the 14th General election proved to be a winner among the youth wings.

The younger generation who attended the Stronger Together assembly expressed confidence with their top leadership's decision, insisting that both sides had higher chances to perform better.

Pahang's state Gerakan Youth secretary-general Rax Chay Tong Seng the cooperation between the two parties was positive step as both sides had the same objective.

He said both sides have been hardworking in making this union happening and they were not going to waste this chance.

"Teamwork will increase chances of winning and I believe both MCA and Gerakan have higher chances this time around.

"In the past, such as GE13, we had argued over some zones and fought over the BN seats.

"In the end, both parties suffered losses," he said.

Chay said not only MCA and Gerakan were working closely together but also other BN component parties.

Kuantan Gerakan Youth member Andrenacous Antonasamy, 28, expressed his excitement for the new cooperation, stating that it was time the party members focused on a winning approach rather than arguing with one another.

He said this makes the him and other youth members feel stronger as they draw nearer to the elections.

He also welcomed the joint roadshow, adding that it was important for those on the ground understand what was happening at the national level.

Meanwhile, 24-year old Jenny Wong from Batu Gajah, Perak said she felt pumped for the upcoming election with historic cooperation announcement.

Expressing her excitement as a first time voter, the MCA member said she was also planning to volunteer for the joint roadshow.

"Now that we are working together, I believe we have an even bigger chance to win.

"Not only this is an positive move but it also shows our senior and top leadership are changing, transforming and understanding what needs to be done to attract voters.

"Bickering over seats does not show confidence, unity does," she said.
