Kelantan PKR upbeat on winning its two allotted Parliamentary seats

KOTA BARU: Kelantan PKR is confident that it will get the full backing of its 15,000 members for the two Parliamentary seats it will be contesting in the coming general election (GE14).

State PKR chairman Ab Aziz Ab Kadir said the two seats are Tanah Merah and Pasir Mas, which are among 51 allocated to PKR as announced at Pakatan Harapan’s convention in Shah Alam on Sunday.

"Out of the number, Kelantan was allocated two seats. In the 13th general election, we were given three Parliamentary seats, which were Machang, Tanah Merah and Ketereh," he told the New Straits Times.

Ab Aziz said that the state PKR will adhere to the decision made by the party's leadership and will do their best to gain victory.

"I believe the party's leaders studied the matter thoroughly before making their decision," he said.

On candidates who will be fielded for Tanah Merah and Pasir Mas, Ab Aziz said the party has already tapped two people for the role.

"Both candidates are men and have a lot of experience in politics.

"One is a young man, while another is middle-aged. Both are professionals," he added.

On Sunday, Pakatan’s secretariat chief Datuk Saifuddin Abdullahon announced the pact’s seat distribution for GE14, with 52 seats going to PPBM, 51 seats to PKR, 35 seats to DAP, and 27 seats to Parti Amanah Negara (PAN).
