Some housing projects in Selangor to enjoy free pre-schools if BN governs state

PETALING JAYA: Some 1,600 low- and medium-cost housing projects in Selangor will enjoy nursery and kindergarten facilities for free if people give a chance for Barisan Nasional (BN) to govern the state in the next general election (GE14).

Selangor BN chairman Tan Sri Noh Omar also pledged that the government will provide free education to all sekolah rendah agama in the state if the ruling coalition was voted in as the new state government.

Noh, who is also the Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister, said championing the struggles of the rakyat had always been the priority for the ruling coalition.

“Priority will be giving to low- and medium-cost strata flats to lessen the burden of young couple in the B40 category in raising their children.

“The government will make it compulsory for developers of low- and medium-cost housing projects to build nurseries and kindergartens using the Taman Bimbingan Kanak-Kanak (TABIKA) concept introduced by the Community Development Department, which was affordable compare to the same facilities operated privately,” he said.

He was speaking to reporters at the launching of The National Blue Ocean Strategy: My Beautiful Neighbourhood Social Transformation Programme at Mentari Court Apartment here today.

Earlier, Noh said the ministry had approved some RM6 million in allocation to replace water tanks and repair the roofs of the building for the Mentari Court Apartment.

The ministry, he said, had also approved RM500,000 in allocation for repair works of two suraus - at the apartment and at another residential area in Jalan PJS 10.

“The government has also approved RM10 million to install mosquito traps at areas identified as dengue hotspots since Selangor records the highest dengue cases compare to other states.

“For the initial phase, the government has set aside RM1 million to install the mosquito traps using Integrated Mosquito Management (IMM) technology.

“To date, four units of the mosquito traps have been installed while work to install another 24 units at this area will be carried out in phases,” he said.
