Wait-and-see mode for Pas over frozen allocation issue in Selangor

KUALA LUMPUR: The Pas central leadership has opted to wait and see before taking the next step, regarding the issue to freeze allocations for the party's elected representatives in Selangor.

The party leaders remain optimistic, although Selangor Pas commissioner Sallehen Mukhyi had been informed by the state’s Economic Planning Unit about the freeze.

Pas deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said he would hold to Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali’s word that the process was still ongoing.

"I also believe the allocation has not been cut as what has been touted. Azmin has stated that it will take time as it is early of the year and the process is still ongoing.

“We will wait and see. The earlier statement stated that all state assemblymen including those from Barisan Nasional (BN) will get their share (allocation).

"This is the Selangor government's commitment, which differ than other states under BN that does not provide any allocation for the opposition," he said.

Tuan Ibrahim said logically speaking, if Azmin, who is also PKR deputy president, was willing to give allocations to the BN representatives then surely he would provide the same facility to the Pas representatives.

Sallehen, in a statement, said, he would seek an explanation from Azmin over such allegations that the annual allowance of RM800,000 each for Pas assemblymen would be frozen.

Azmin had previously denied this.

PAS won 15 out of 56 state seats in the 13th General Elections (GE13), namely Taman Templer, Lembah Jaya, Paya Jaras, Chempaka, Meru, Dusun Tua, Tanjung Sepat, Sabak, Gombak Setia, Bangi, Seri Serdang, Selat Kelang, Sijangkang, Morib and Hulu Kelang.

Hulu Kelang assemblyman Saari Sungib and Morib assemblyman Hasnul Baharuddin, however, had left Pas shortly after GE13 and joined Parti Amanah Negara (Pan).
