Mahathir claims Pakatan has resolved Negeri Sembilan convention fiasco

PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan (Pakatan) claimed that it has solved the Negeri Sembilan Pakatan Harapan convention fiasco which took place on Sunday.

Its chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said in every situation there would always be conflict but it all depends on how a party solves it.

"It is not about the problem but it is about how you solve the situation.

"It has been solved and we are satisfied. We still have time to fix the situation.

"Hence, we would still nominate our candidates in each parliament and state seats. We want to challenge the government," said Mahathir after chairing the Pakatan Harapan presidential council meeting today.

On Sunday, some 50 Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) members objected to Pakatan's seat distribution in the state for the coming 14th General Election.

The PPBM members shouted "This is not fair!" several times from the back of the hall as soon as Pakatan president Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail ended her speech at the convention.

Prior to her speech, the pact's chief secretary Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah announced that of the 36 state seats in Negeri Sembilan, 12 would be contested by PKR, 11 by DAP, seven by Parti Amanah Negara and six by PPBM

On the seat negotiation in Selangor, Mahathir said a special committee has been formed.

He said the special committee would assist in solving the issues in state.

Meanwhile, on Sabah's seats negotiation, Mahathir said cooperation between Pakatan and Parti Warisan Sabah may happen.

"We have Pakatan's component parties in Sabah – DAP, PKR and Amanah – and they realised that Warisan is there.

"If we collide with Warisan, they will lose and we could too. Therefore, cooperation between both parties is possible.

The former prime minister also expressed his disappointment with the Registar of Society (RoS) over the delay in approving the coalition's registration and logo.

"Until today there is still no answer. I believe this is being done on purpose.

"We spend our time preparing for the election but RoS has yet to acknowledge us. This is an insult to us," he said.
