PBS keeps mum about GE14 candidates

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Sabah has remained tight-lipped on the list of candidates to be fielded in the upcoming general election.

Its president Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan said it would only be known during nomination day.

When asked whether the party was confident of getting back lost seats in 13th General Election, he said it was possible.

"All Barisan Nasional candidates can win (state and parliamentary seats)," said Pairin, who is also deputy Chief Minister, during the party's walkabout at Sunday Gaya Street market here.

During the last election, PBS lost six out of 13 state seats traditionally allocated to the party.

The six state seats are Matunggong, Kadamaian, Tamparuli, Inanam, Api-Api and Sri Tanjong.

PBS also lost the Kota Kinabalu parliamentary seat to

Democratic Action Party (DAP) Jimmy Wong Sze Phin.

Earlier the party also greeted the people at Lido market early in the morning before moving to Gaya street market.

The PBS entourage included deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili and secretary-general Datuk Johnny Mositun.

Pairin said the walkabout programme was to build rapport with the community in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration.

"The tourism industry in Sabah is growing with many tourists from China, Korea and Japan.
